This a day trip to Lake Manyara National Park which is a backdrop that Ernest Hemingway praised as “the prettiest I had seen in Africa,” Lake Manyara is a picturesque jewel that stretches for 50 kilometers at the base of the rusty-gold, 600-meter-high Rift Valley escarpment.
When the water level is high, Lake Manyara may cover up to 200 square kilometers (77 square miles) of the 330 square kilometers (127 square miles) that make up Lake Manyara National Park. Tanzania’s northern region is home to Lake Manyara National Park. The entry gate is located near to the ethnically varied market town of Mto wa Mbu, 1.5 hours (126 kilometers/80 miles) west of Arusha along a recently paved road.
How to go to Lake Manyara National Park
From the Arusha Airport, you may take a road trip, a charter flight, or a regularly scheduled aircraft to Lake Manyara National Park on way to Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit Lake Manyara National Park is from July to October when it’s the dry season for big animals. The wet season (November to June) is ideal for canoeing, waterfall sightseeing, and bird watching.
